Master’s Degrees at Averett University


Averett University offers advanced master’s degree coursework that provides a strong academic foundation for adult students looking to excel in their careers. The accredited Averett University master’s degree is generally taken on by determined and dedicated adult students who have already earned their bachelor’s degree. The Averett University master’s degree program provides an accelerated format that makes it easy for adult students to attend school while continuing to work full-time and care for their families.

Master of Business Administration


Degree Description
The Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree is designed to develop and enhance the management and analytical skills necessary to work in public and private industry. The program concentrates on the functional areas of business. All courses in the MBA program are designed to recognize the global impact on business and industry. The curriculum is structured sequentially, with participants taking one course at a time. The MBA program requires the completion of a 40-credit core curriculum. All courses consist of weekly four-hour class meetings. Students will be governed by the catalog edition in effect when they enrolled. Students who have not enrolled in graduate courses for two consecutive courses must reapply to the graduate degree program. Note: Students must have completed IDS 100, IDS 304, IDS 301 or IDS 494G before enrolling in program courses.

Master of Education


Degree Description
The Master of Education program is designed to encourage the development of the professional educator. The program concentrates on an educational framework that supports the advancement, application, and integration of relevant theory and practice within the classroom. In order to assume leadership positions, teachers must become competent in curriculum content, design, and implementation use of instructional strategies appropriate for the developmental level of students and appropriate for each curriculum area. The Master of Education program provides a strong theoretical base that examines philosophical, psychological, and research-oriented issues. In addition, courses in the areas of specialization are offered to enhance the student's knowledge in his/her chosen area of study to provide practical experience for teachers to become leaders in their profession.
